LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION!!!! Sasha Love is here with us today.
Let's all welcome my first "guest" on my blog, one of my very best friends, Samuel aka Sasha Love!
Samuel and I just met this semester and had a connection right off the bat! He decided to dabble into some drag, if you will, a spur of the moment sign-up when our school hosted a drag contest. Sasha performed to "Dangerous Woman" by the one and only Ariana and girl did she ownnnn that stage! (I will try to link it down below) That weekend, Samuel asked if I could come over and do his makeup for a photoshoot. Uh, duh!!! I may not be a beauty guru or really know everything there is to know about makeup, but it is one of my favorite hobbies. I walk into his house and on the couch was, and I quote, "the queen's wardrobe", around the kitchen were several wigs and the makeup all out on the counter. We sat down in the light and I started doing my thing. We talked, we laughed, we shared some very interesting stories and that was when I really felt our friendship grow. When meeting someone you have a connection with, don't let that go... you never know who is going to be a friend for now or a friend for life, but you might as well make it a friend for the moment. I'm glad I have him and I'm glad our friendship is still growing. As I finished his makeup, before he could look at it, we had to get the wig on. I'm not exaggerating when I say this, as SOON as that wig was on his head and secure, it was a whole new person. He went down the hall to check in the mirror and as I crept from around the corner, you could see his eyes just light up. His whole body lit up. The way he moved suddenly became sharper, more bold and to the point but also truly free and letting loose. When I talked about confidence before, this was the perfect definition of something that made him feel confident. No, it wasn't my incredible makeup skills that turned him into a goddess, it was his own soul who lit up the room and made it a stage. I know several people do not understand drag queens, honestly, every drag queen has a different purpose but once you actually see them do what makes them happy, that's all that should matter. Everyone has their own alter ego that they do have or wish they had, Sasha is the type of ego we should all strive for. As we went around for the photoshoot, Sasha was the most vibrant. Granted, Samuel is a theatre major and knows how to work it, but this was a different type of "working it". The type of confidence that was pouring out of her was beautiful. You could tell that it wasn't just doing something just to do, you could tell just by looking at her that this was a passion. I preach all the time to find that self happiness and healthy passion, this is what I mean. Sasha isn't a job to Samuel, though in the future it could potentially be, she isn't forced. If you are struggling to find your self happiness and your passion, be patient, you'll find it or it will come to you but whatever you do, please do not try to force happiness on yourself. Faking the happiness with make you more unhealthy than just waiting for something to come along. Sasha came out of the blue and now she is a sensation. As for Sam, he is still creating Sasha, he may decide to go a different route or see that he wants to take it up a notch/tone it down a notch...because it's something that is yours, you make the rules. CREATE HAPPINESS. CREATE CONFIDENCE. CREATE PASSION. CREATE ADVENTURE. CREATE A FEAR THAT YOU CRAVE. I loved being with Sasha that day because she didn't realize that she was inspiring me the entire day. Inspiring me to be confident, glowing, that type of spark, the happiness coming from within that was so genuine that really makes you enjoy life at that moment. I think that is what is truly special about true confidence and true passion, you are so wrapped up in it that you don't see how it is affecting others. Sometimes we have to be careful because it's true, people are always watching, but in Sasha's case... it was incredible. Sam, I am so happy that you are happy and that you are on this sassy journey as Sasha. You have not only inspired me but so many people around you. Do not for one second let those haters bring you down, though I know you won't, keep on SLAYING BABY!!!!!!
